- Hi,
- Here is a solution I found worked for me, Not the prefered but it certainly
- worked.
-
- Clip from nz.comp
-
-
- Enable speed renegotitation - check your modem manual for this.
-
- For Rockwell based modems (early 28k8 Dynalinks, Supra, Zoltrix, Ellcon etc)
-
- the setting you want is %E2
-
- For AT&T and Cirrus Logic chipset modems (Recent 14k4 and 28k8 Dynalinks,
- AT&T Paradyne, etc)
-
- The setting you want is %G1
-
- Check your modem manual for confirmation.
-
- If you have a Dynalink and you aren't sure, try AT %E2 first.
- If you get ERROR returned you have a Cirrus Logic (14k4) or
- AT&T (28k8) chipset unit and you need to use AT %G1
-
- It's damn stupid that 99% of the modems out there disable speed
- renegotiation by default, especially at 28k8 which is close to
- the theoretical limits of an analogue phone line.
